Goliath (formerly known as Trial) is an American legal drama web television series by Amazon Studios. The show was commissioned with a straight-to-series order of 8 episodes on December 1, 2015,[1] and premiered on October 13, 2016, on Amazon Video.[2][3] On February 15, 2017, Amazon announced the series was renewed for a second season.[4] 

The show received generally favorable reviews, scoring a 65 out of 100 on Metacritic based on 26 critics.[15] Rotten Tomatoes gave the first season a 77% ‘Certified Fresh’ rating based on 35 reviews, with a weighted average score of 6.04/10 and the general consensus “Compelling performances from an excellent cast—led by standout Billy Bob Thornton—propel David E. Kelley’s Goliath into must-watch TV territory.”[16]

At the 74th Golden Globe Awards, Billy Bob Thornton won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Drama for his work on this show.[17]
